T is for Turtle

In an effort to not let dnrtime go under I just drew a little Mr. Turtle on a handy dandy post-it. He'll keep me company on this lovely Friday.

S is for Save the Date

I have yet to make a S.T.D but figured I can start since I have an actual date now. I wasn't going to do one but it was recommended since it falls on a Friday and out of town-ers need to take more time off. Who said I wanted them to come, I'm trying to eliminate hundreds of folks not gain them?! :P

In any case, I found this picture I drew in '96 and think I'll use it as inspiration.. or just copy it completely haha! So here it is, my inspiration from back in the day..

S is for Skeleton

Skeletor
I forgot that I doodled a skeleton in class on Monday for Dnrtime. My class happened to be held in some physical therapy classroom so there were skeletons and body parts lying around.

Poor effort but I'm easing back into dnr!

Also, I wanted to let you know that I used Picnik to edit this phone camera shot of my doodle. It's a neat website that let me edit, save, and blog my photo in the same amount of time that it took for me to get Photoshop open. Enjoy!

O is for Ostrich

It was the first O thing that popped into my head that wasn't food related. Who doesn't think about Oreos all the time?!

L is for Little Lamb

... and Mary had one. I call her Possessed Mary since I accidentally messed up on her eyes and had to color them in. Possessed Mary better not hurt that little lamb!

K is for Kid flying a Kite

I love Easter, I love kids, I love kids at Easter :) Yesterday we had over 100 eggs filled with goodies for my nephews to find. I wanted to take them to fly a kite too but we were distracted with all the eggs, food, babies and Bakugons. Don't ask me what Bakugons are, I'm still the cool Auntie for pretending to know what they are and how to play with them. Since I didn't get to flying the kite I might as well draw one.

Egg Dash! (And Bakagon shirt) Uncle Vince was a rascal and hid them too high

K is for kaffir lime leaves

041109 K (6)
If I had a favorite leaf, this would be my new #1. I was introduced to the kaffir lime leaf two weeks ago at my first Thai cooking class. It is widely used in Thai (and other southeast Asian) dishes for its unique and aromatic scent. I did my Thai "homework" today and made two dishes containing these leaves: a hot and sour prawn soup (dtom yam gkoong) and a green curry (gkaeng kiew wahn moo). Mmmm.

J is for Jumping

040409 MP Hike (20)
D and I hiked Mission Peak on Saturday and the hills were beautifully covered with these purple flowers/weeds. I smelled an opportunity for another jumping picture.

040709 J
I really tried with this one but, sadly, it looks like I have bound feet and burnt skin.

I is for ice pack

I ran four miles yesterday and biked 15 miles today. My body, especially my tush, needs a good icing! It's a lame drawing but I really wanted to use these new Derwent studio colored pencils that D gave to me. As you can see, I am really bad at "blending shadows and highlights" - what these pencils were intended to be good for. Anyone want to take a drawing class??

F is for Fat Cat

I think I spent so much time on last weeks entry that I completely disregarded this week. I found a picture of a fat cat and quickly doodled it this morning. He's not as fat as I'd like him to be but he'll do. In case you're wondering, his name is Fatty Fredo.

F is for Fishing

F is for Fishing
...something I'd much rather be doing than studying! I promise to put more effort into next week's project but this is all I can manage while I cram. Drawn with pencil on the back of one of my index cards and then darkened highlights using Photoshop.

Hope everyone makes it to DNR this week, even if it's just a doodle. :)

B is for Bat

Sunday, February 08, 2009
My 4-year old cousin came over with his animal figurines. Among his amphibian, reptile, and mammal collection was this bat figurine. I drew it and then colored it using a blending stamp and colored pencils.

B is for Bacon

Not Bacon aka Toby (Thanks a lot B). Instead I give you the real deal.. or a drawing of bacon in a tub of hot oil. I know how much this audience loves deep fried food.

A is for Governator

I mean Arnold. No, this is not the way I view our Governator (or is it :P). I found this caricature online and attempted to copy it.. attempted.
Hey, we're only at A, give me a break, I'm hoping to get better by the time we get to Z!

A is for apple chips

I wanted to draw something other than an apple... so I drew apple chips and used some paint to color it in.
